Chronicle Volume 1932

The year 1932 was of outstanding importance for the political development of Germany. The economic crisis that had been ongoing since 1930 worsened over the course of the year. The signs were pointing to a storm for democracy. The low number of German participants in the Olympic Games in the USA showed the tense economic situation.

In 1932, Amelia Earheart becomes the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic, Roosevelt becomes President of the USA and the legendary Radio City Music Hall opens its doors.
The Bauhaus in Dessau, a teaching and research institute for avant-garde design art, has to move to Berlin under pressure from the city council because it does not conform to the Nazi understanding of art.
