Chronicle Volume 1933

The year 1933 was a fateful year for the Germans, and in other countries too the economic crisis that had been going on for four years led to profound political changes. With the promise of creating jobs and overcoming party feuds, authoritarian governments came to power in the German Reich and other countries. In the same year, Marc Chagall painted the "Fall of the Angels" and Ernst Ruska built the first electron microscope with 12,000x magnification. In 1933, the technical, cultural and political events took a back seat in the public's consciousness compared to the fundamental political changes.
