Chronicle Volume 1936

In retrospect, it must seem as if it was becoming very clear in 1936 that the world was heading for another major war in the near future. The fronts were becoming ever clearer, German National Socialists and Spanish and Italian fascists were mobilizing all their forces to create facts in an aggressive manner in their own interests: Hitler had 30,000 Wehrmacht soldiers occupy the demilitarized Rhineland. Their political innocence, if they ever really had it, was lost in 1936 at the Olympic Games, which were a remarkable propaganda success for National Socialist Germany.

The chronicle shows these events, but it also shows how people lived back then and brings history to life. This makes the 1936 Chronicle a unique gift.
