Chronicle Volume 1947

1947 is a year of economic crisis, poverty and – especially in Germany – a year of hunger throughout Europe, the worse of which was not even in the last years of the war. The depressed and disillusioned mood is illustrated by the war returnee drama “Draußen vor der Tür” by the young Wolfgang Borchert, who dies one day before the premiere.
