Chronicle Volume 1960

1960 goes down in history as the "African year". During this year, the European colonial powers granted independence to 17 states on the "black continent". It was not so much the recognition of the autonomy rights of these territories or the retreat from national liberation movements that prompted France, Great Britain and Belgium to give up their colonial possessions - it was essentially economic reasons (high government expenditure on the administration of the colonies and low income) that accelerated the process of decolonization.

The chronicle shows these events, but it also shows how people lived back then and brings history to life. This makes the 1960 Chronicle a unique gift.
