Chronicle Volume 1969

Looking back, the landing of the first man on the moon is almost symbolic of the global mood at the end of the 1960s. A departure towards a new society, new values and a new culture. Nevertheless, war atrocities in Vietnam and Biafra overshadowed world events. But in Germany too, a new era seemed to be dawning with the change of government. Culturally, 1969 was marked by two major events: the first man on the moon and the Woodstock Festival. The latter influenced generations of young people as well as musicians and other artists. Woodstock became the epitome of a counterculture that conquered the public, the media and people around the world at breakneck speed and was soon established. 1969 was a quiet year from the point of view of sports fans, but in retrospect it marked the beginning of a decades-long era in German football. FC Bayern Munich won the double for the first time. With the rare and unusual victory in the championship and the cup, the development of a club that euphorizes its fans as much as it intimidates its opponents has now begun.
