Chronicle Volume 1937

George VI becomes King of England, the airship Hindenburg explodes in Lakehurst and the Golden Gate Bridge is inaugurated in San Francisco after four years of construction. Civil war rages in Spain, with foreign forces intervening more or less directly. Germany prepares for the war that has already been planned in Spain and tests its armaments industry with war criminal air raids such as the one on Guernica.
In 1937, the Nanga Parbad expedition, which was highly stylized by the National Socialists, resulted in the deaths of most of the expedition participants. The propaganda exhibition “Degenerate Art” opened in Munich and was then shown as a traveling exhibition in the German Reich.
