The heaviest crustacean ever caught in the world is listed in the Guinness Book of Records at 44.4 lb (20.1 kg). It was an American lobster, or - after the state with the largest fishing effort - the Maine lobster. However, fishing in Maine is strictly regulated for the purpose of species conservation. The Maine lobster is a delicacy of traditional cuisine and the official state crustacean. This note from the 50 US states program is decorated with a lobster, a fishing boat, the "Portland Head Light" in Cape Elizabeth, branches of the Weymouth pine, the state motto "DIRIGO" (Latin for "I lead") and the year of admission to the union. Maine has the largest proportion of forest of all US states and is also called the "Pine Tree State".
