From 1908 to 1927, Henry Ford produced the Model T, the first car in history that was affordable for the middle class. The assembly line production he perfected for this purpose revolutionized the automobile industry and contributed significantly to the formation of the modern consumer society. This note from the 50 US states program is adorned with a portrait of Ford, a Ford Model T, the Detroit skyline, the Mackinac Bridge, the Latin state motto (translated "If you are looking for a beautiful peninsula, look around") and the year of admission to the union. The wolverine has a long tradition as a mascot in Michigan and thus found its way into the state's nickname.
