Souvenir note 100 Dollar New Mexico - The New Empire from the Legends of the Aztecs

The Apache leader Geronimo was one of the greatest opponents of the US Army in the Indian Wars. These were fought in the Badlands of New Mexico, among other places. They are home to fascinating, colorful earth pyramids and important dinosaur fossils. This note from the 50 US states program features Geronimo, the Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah wilderness area, the state flag, the motto "Crescit Eundo" (It grows as it goes along) and the year of admission to the union. The state's name goes back to Aztec legends about a "new" competing empire. In search of the treasures believed to be there, the Spanish then called the area "Nuevo México".
