The famous colossal sculptures at Mount Rushmore in the Black Hills were declared complete in 1941, although the original plan was to carve Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln into the granite up to their waists. Nevertheless, Mount Rushmore is one of the most popular attractions in the USA and the origin of South Dakota's nickname "The Mount Rushmore State". This bill from the 50 States program features the monument as well as stylized stalks of grain symbolizing South Dakota's agriculture. It also features the state motto "Under God the People Rule" and the year of admission to the Union.
