The construction of the railroad changed transportation and travel options in the USA considerably and a new chapter in American history began. One of the most significant events was the completion of the first transcontinental railroad line between the Atlantic and Pacific. The rail network was completed in 1869 with the insertion of the so-called "last nail" at Promontory Summit in Utah. The famous golden nail can be seen on this note from the 50 US states program, along with the Union Pacific No. 119 locomotive, the Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, the Great Seal of Utah, the state motto "INDUSTRY" and the year of admission to the union.
